Perhaps the best bill I’ve read about in a long long time. Absolutely fantastic. Now to figure out how to help get this thing passed. Hey smart people! Any ideas?

Free Press : Community Internet
so, there are lots of rotten sons of bitches that are backing legislation to prevent municipalities from providing free internet access.
this makes me furious. just like states rights, municipal rights are essential to maintain. AND, municipal broadband is just about the only thing we can do do to ensure that those on the other side of the digital divide can survive in the 21st century!
bad bad verizon, sprint, comcast, and bellsouth! rotten legislators, putting corporate greed before the benefit of the people!
gaaaaarrrghhh!!!

a treat for your valentine
February 14th, 2005
something i whipped up last night… i find that necessity being the mother of invention is especially true in cooking…
apricot raspberry goat cheese spread:
one handful chopped up dried apricots (i used the tasty slab apricots from trader joe’s…)
one spoonful raspberry jam
goat cheese
freshly ground black pepper
good rye bread
-toast a few slices of rye bread, cut into points
-combine apricots, jam, and cheese in bowl. will probably have a rather dry texture, depending on the goat cheese.
-microwave cheese mixture until cheese gets soft. (around 30 seconds)
-stir cheese until smooth.
-add pepper to taste
-serve cheese with toast points.
-enjoy!
